Dream Journaling

I've been keeping a dream journal for the past several months. I've written about my dreams before here on Facebook and in my regular journals, but decided to make a dedicated dream journal because I wanted to see when I dream, what time I dream, and what phase of the moon I'm dreaming in. The one thing I've noticed is that many of my dreams, especially the more emotional ones, happen when the moon is 70-99% waxing/waning and almost full.

To quickly explain moon phases, in case you don't know, you have the new moon, which you can't see. Then you have the waxing moon, which is the crescent and then gibbous as it builds to the full. Then after the full moon it's called waning, which is gibbous going back to crescent until you reach the new moon again.

I've written down 22 dream journal entries so far. There have been zero entries for new moon, 2 for full moon, 8 for waning, and 12 for waxing. Gibbous was 12 and crescent was 8. But in those 8 crescents, only 3 were lower than 22%. So that means the bulk of my dreams take place closer to the moon being full.

You see, the moon is a lot more powerful than we humans give it credit for. It not only controls the tides, but our emotions as well. Ask any ER nurse, EMT, or a trucker and they will all tell you that the day before, the day after, but especially the day of a full moon is the craziest. Some refuse to even work on the day of a full moon. Personally, I won't even leave the house on a full moon if I can't help it. People just go crazy.

So my intent of the dream journal was to find that correlation between the moon and my dreams. It's still a work in progress and I'm constantly collating data, but I find it fascinating. I also would love to do a comparison chart on when my emotions are extreme to what the tides are at that point in time. Because the moon controls the tides and the tides are full of energy that contract and expand and I wonder if that has an effect on humans, or at least myself, because the ocean is my true home.

Circle Magic

What do you use a circle for? For spellwork, meditations, rituals, and more. Whenever you feel you need protection or to completely cut off from the mundane world.

Why place a circle? Casting a circle is very important to your craft. Some people believe that it protects you from dark energy/spirits that try to attack you when you are most vulnerable, so if you put up a barrier of sorts, a circle, then you will be protected. Others feel it's just a barrier that separates the mundane (physical world) from the spiritual world. When you put up a circle, it's like you are telling yourself that inside that circle is all that matters, and the mundane world falls away. It's where time and space are completely insignificant. The circle also acts as a holding tank for your energy, keeping it from dissipating, and when you release that circle, that energy goes out into the world, spreading your spellwork far and wide.

Before you cast your circle you need to take some time and ground and center yourself. Going in unprepared and with your brain going a million miles a minute is not going to be good for your magic, let alone your circle casting. So start off by taking some you time. Take a bath or shower and cleanse yourself physically as well as spiritually. Then take a few minutes to meditate. Meditate and ground yourself. Think about what you want to accomplish in your workings.

The circle itself can be a physical act or just an energetic one. I do a mix of both. I created my circle ritual and it is mine alone, but I'll share some other techniques below. I start out placing my shells in a circle. But you can also use salt (not outdoors though as it runs off into the soil and is bad for soil), egg shell powder, candles or anything that fits into your craft. I'm a Sea Witch so I use shells in my spiritual work a lot. Then I have a set way of calling upon the elements. Then I work on visualization. An energy barrier of sorts. You can envision an energy bubble or white light, or in my case, a wall of water. You can also use a wand, athame, staff, or stick to help you focus your energy. You want to cast your circle clockwise and release it counter-clockwise. You also might want to start in the East, it is the most common direction to start with, but honestly, it's up to you. It's your magic, you do it how you want it.

Simple Circle Casting Example:

  1. To cast a physical circle, place sea shells, candles, or whatever you like as a visualization for the circle barrier.
  2. To cast an energetic circle, use athame, wand, hand, etc., and visualize the protective barrier.
  3. Smoke-cleanse the area.
  4. Call upon the elements, deities, spirit guides, etc. to bless your circle. Say something like "Elements/Deity I call upon you to protect this space and lend your energy to my work.”
  5. To release the circle, thank the elements or your deity/guides and bid them farewell. Then bring down the energy or undo the physical circle

SIGILS:

  1. Safe places for sigils - in your wallet, shoes, on a bottle of water, on a key ring.

CREATING A SIGIL:

  • Create a short phrase or wording to invoke the intention you want. For example: “TRIPLE GODDESS” if you want to have the intention of connecting with the triple goddesses.
  • Remove any extra letters to condense down the word. So TRIPLE GODDESS would become TRIPLE GODS.
  • Then you can take out the vowels if you want to. Or go ahead and assign the numbers from the Sator Square. Sator Square is a 3x3 square filled with the numbers 1-9 in this alignment:

4 9 2
3 5 7
8 1 6
  • The corresponding letters to the Sator Square are as follows:
  • 1 - AJS. 2 - BKT. 3 - CLU. 4 - DMV. 5 - ENW. 6 - FOX. 7 - GPY. 8 - HQZ. 9 - IR
  • So TRPLGDS would create the numbers 2973741.
  • Take out the extra numbers if so desired. in this case I changed it to 297341.
  • Then in your 3x3 graph, draw out the numbers from start to finish.

THE EYE OF HORUS AND THE HAMSA:

  1. The Hamsa and the importance of eyes and drawing them or wearing eye amulets: The Hamsa wards off potential negative forces or ill intentions and deflects it straight back to the sender. The symbol is an open palm with an eye on it and refers to the Eye of Horus. It is said that the sun and the moon are the Eyes of Horus. The right side of your body is sun energy. The left side of your body is moon energy. Drawing an eye on both palms of your hands gives you the Eyes of Horus. This protects you, brings you into harmony with your own success, and attracts goodness into your life.
  2. The Eye of Horus - The Eye of Horus was used as a sign of healing, prosperity, and protection (esp against diseases), derived from the myth of Isis and Osiris. Osiris was the oldest son of the God of the Earth, Geb, and the Goddess of the Sky, Nut, and was known as the God of the Underworld but, more appropriately, as the God of Transition, Resurrection, and Regeneration. Osiris had three siblings: Isis, Set, and Nephthys. Osiris married his sister, Isis, as was the timely Royal custom, and had a son named Horus. The myth started when Set, Osiris’ brother, murdered Osiris to claim the throne, which caused disorder and chaos in ancient Egypt. Set’s brutality did not stop at killing Osiris, and he proceeded to cut Osiris' body into 14 parts that were distributed across ancient Egypt. Isis traveled with Horus in search of Osiris’s body parts. Isis also recruited the help of her sister, Nephthys, and Nephthys’ son, Anubis. Anubis was the son of Nephthys and Osiris, and it is said that Nephthys wickedly assumed the shape of Isis to seduce Osiris and conceive Anubis. Isis, Nephthys, Anubis, and Horus were able to find 13 parts of Osiris. The spirit of Osiris was then able to pass to Amenti, the underworld, and rule the dead. When Horus killed Set in the large battle near Edfu, he proclaimed his kingdom, restoring the order to Egypt. The ancient Egyptians used this legendary fight as a metaphor of the battle between good and evil, order and chaos. Afterward, Horus was idolized by the ancient Egyptians in the form of the Eye of Horus.

Witch's Tools

There are certain tools that a witch might want to use in their spells and rituals. You don't necessarily NEED every single one of them, but you might want to have them. And they don't have to be the exact thing that many of the books or other witches say that you need. For example, many books I've read say you need a silver chalice. Who's got the money to spend on all of these tools, especially something so elegant as a silver chalice. Mine is glass. And I got it almost twenty years ago and hardly ever used it, except for decoration, and now it decorates my altar. You will likely be able to find something around your house that you can use instead and just dedicate it to your craft instead. Here are some of the tooks that you might want to get.

The Athame (pronounced ath-uh-may):

  1. Element: Fire.
  2. Direction: South.
  3. Color: Red.
  4. Gender: Male.
  5. The athame invokes and banishes energy. It also tends to unseen entities and forces. Holds negative spirits at bay to keep them from wreaking havoc with spellwork, and attracts and invites entities who possess vibrations that are beneficial to the tasks at hand.
  6. Ensures that everything runs smoothly.
  7. Traditionally a double-edged blade with a black handle, because black is the absence of color. This means it’s capable of grabbing negative forces and strips them of their power, transforming it into harmless energy that dissipates quickly into the universe.
  8. The double-edged blade reminds us that there are two sides to the magical coin. Life (positive) and Death (negative). It is up to us to choose which side of the coin we will play. We can use magic to defend and protect and work toward the good of all, or we can go to the dark side.
  9. The blade is usually made of steel.
  10. Should never be used to draw blood. If used to draw blood, it should be destroyed so it will never be used again.
The Besom (aka Witch's Broom):

  1. Known as the witch’s broom.
  2. Can be used interchangeably with the wand in the circle.
  3. Used especially in the Imbolc Ritual where we sweep away the old (winter) to make room for the new (spring).
  4. You can make your own with a tree branch and some herbs and twigs, but a regular store bought broom works just as well.
  5. Perform a blessing/consecration ritual.
The Black Mirror:
  1. Used for scrying and divination.
  2. Traditionally constructed from a piece of concave glass (glass that curves outward like the surface of a sphere).
  3. Most are purchased from specialty stores or made from a plain piece of glass held in a picture frame.
Candles:
  1. Candles are a symbol of all of the elements. The wick is for Earth/grounding. The wax is for Water/transformative. Air is required to keep it burning. The flame is fire. When you charge the candle you bring spirit into the elements of the candle. All five elements together makes it a very powerful tool of magic.
  2. When doing candle magic, it helps to choose the right candle color to align with your intentions.
  3. You can create even more abundant power in your candle by anointing it with sacred or magical oils and scents to carry your message even further. It will give your candle magic more power when combined with all of the elements and color magic and with the enhancement of power through oils and herbs.
  4. When anointing a candle, the way you apply the oil can be important. To draw things to you (prosperity, love, success, etc) anoint from the top of the candle to the middle, and from the bottom to the middle, pulling energy inward. To banish or remove things (negative energy, bad habits, anxiety, etc) anoint from the middle to the top and from the middle to the bottom, pushing energy outward.
  5. Candles allow us to bring the power of color into our spellwork and craft.
The Cauldron:
  1. Represents Akasha/Spirit, the mover and shaker of the Elements.
  2. Symbolizes the point of metamorphosis or transformation that occurs during the magical process.
  3. When used in ritual, it is placed at the center of the circle, because it is known as the “Womb of the Goddess”, the source from which all magic flows, and all magic flows from the circle’s center.
  4. In ancient times the cauldron held fire, so was usually cast iron.
  5. In modern times the fire it contains is either a candle, incense, or paper requests burned on smoldering herbs, so nearly any metal will do.
The Cup/Chalice/Goblet:
  1. Element: Water.
  2. Direction: West.
  3. Color: Blue.
  4. Gender: Female.
  5. Spirit of the Goddess.
  6. Traits: abundance, fertility.
  7. The ritual cup, or chalice, is used as a drinking device during both personal and deity libations. It takes on many roles in rituals and spells.
  8. Seen as an offering or way to give gifts and libations to your deities.
  9. It also acts as a magical container for any substance, mundane, psychic, or otherwise, that the practitioner deems necessary, and keeps it there until the time comes to release it.
  10. It is to gather, hold, and disperse energy.
  11. It is traditionally cast of sterling silver, which is the metal of the moon. that’s because its ruling element is water and the rise and ebb of the ocean tides are ruled by the moon.
  12. Because sterling silver is expensive, it can be plated or another silver-colored metal, or whatever you want it to be. Some practitioners can use other cups made of pottery or glass, but silver cups have been used since the beginning because it represents the Goddess of the Moon.
  13. Can hold water, wine, ale, tea, kombucha, essences, potions and more.
  14. Can also be empty as a symbolic gesture in some spells or rituals, denoting openness to receive abundance to be poured into the cup from the spiritual plane.
Incense (Sage, Palo Santo, or any other type of incense or herb bundle):
  1. Used for smoke cleansing to clear away negative and stagnant energies.
  2. Also used in divination, meditation, shadow work, spellwork, and spirit work.
  3. Used in rituals and ceremonies.
  4. Do not use if you have asthma, COPD, or other sensitive lung or sinus issues.
  5. Please do not do around sensitive pets. Put them in another room and open a window or turn on air purifier. Their little lungs can’t handle the smoke.
Jars:
  1. A witch can never have enough jars.
  2. You will use these for spells, containers to keep your ingredients in, and many other uses.
  3. No need to buy special jars. I keep all of my spaghetti sauce jars and use those. But for spells I have gotten those tiny little spell jars from the dollar store. There are about 5 or 6 in the package for a $1 or so.
The Pentacle:
  1. Element: Earth.
  2. Direction: North.
  3. Color: Green.
  4. Gender: Male/Female.
  5. The Pentagram is a five-pointed star with a five-sided geometrical shape in its center drawn with the point up. The Pentacle is a pentagram encapsulated by a circle.
  6. It represents the five elements: Air, Earth, Fire, Water, and Spirit/Akasha.
  7. Its basic function is to shield and protect.
  8. It grounds all energies that we invite and direct, and keeps them from scattering aimlessly through the universe.
  9. Works as a manifestation device.
  10. There are two types of pentacles: The working pentacle and the ritual pentacle.
  11. Pentacles are seen in tarot decks. They can represent money.
  12. Pentacles symbolize the Earth and its bountiful richness and abundance. It can represent mind over matter, with the upper point representing the practitioner (aka Spirit) and the other four, the Elements.
  13. It can symbolize the macrocosm of man, when we stand with our arms and legs outstretched in a star-like shape.
  14. In the early days of Christianity, it represented the five wounds of Christ.
  15. When reversed and the two points are up, it can be used to represent the Horned god used by Satanists. In this form it symbolizes matter, or basal instinct over mind.
The Pendulum:
  1. Used as a form of divination.
  2. Can generally get yes/no answers pretty quickly.
  3. Can be used for healing (with the process of dowsing) to find and clear negative and stagnant energies.
Prophetic Dreaming:
  1. Keep a diary. The dream diary is a very important tool as it brings insight to past and current events in your life.
  2. It can also point out personal problem areas, damaging relationship patterns, and all sorts of other issues that can be dealt with easily if apparent at the onset.
  3. Kept regularly, the dream diary relieves stress, and a healthy witch is a powerful witch.
  4. You have to jot down your dreams as soon as you wake up from them. If not, specific portions of your dream can be forgotten.
  5. Write down everything about your dream before trying to decipher them.
Tarot:
  1. Used for divination and to contact spirit guides.
  2. Also used for shadow work.
  3. Some use it to ask questions about relationships, the future, and pretty much anything you can think of.
  4. In my personal opinion, it is like a form of therapy. I get great insight about myself and it helps me become a better person.
The Wand:
  1. Element: Air.
  2. Direction: East.
  3. Color: Yellow.
  4. Gender: Male/Female.
  5. It is probably one of the most important utensils in the witch’s toolbox.
  6. It is an instrument necessary to manifest any number of supernatural phenomena in the physical realm.
  7. It is an attractant, a repellent, and a director of energies. It divides the worlds during circle-casting, then connects again when the magic is done.
  8. You can have a small and/or a large staff-sized wand. The small wand is used to conduct and direct energy. The large wand is used to attracting and repelling energy. They can work together or independently of each other to achieve the desired results.
The White-Handled Knife:
  1. It’s probably the most frequently used of all craft tools.
  2. Used to inscribe candles, carving runes, harvesting herbs and plant material.
  3. Single-edged.
  4. Nearly any type of cutlery will do, as long as it has a white handle. If you do not have a white-handled knife though, any knife will do. Mine is a black-handled steak knife that is now dedicated strictly to my craft.
Witch's Bells
  1. Hang bells on your door, near the handle, to protect your home and ward off harm, negativity, and evil spirits.
  2. Hang bells on doorknobs and say this:
“Guard our home, bells on the door,
let only blessings walk on this floor,
block all evil and the dark arts,
may only good approach our hearts,
evil spells shall not be cast,
and good fortune shall ever last.”

Book of Shadows

A witch's Book of Shadows is their most important and essential tool. It is where you journal about every spell you work on, record your thoughts and intentions, and is the keeper of all of your magic. It is your mystical best friend. I have two. My physical copy that I use when I'm working on spells, and my digital copy that holds a lot more information. It is my intent to print it all out when I'm finally finished typing most of the important information. Here are a few things that you can do in it.

  1. This is your spellbook. The keeper of your magic. It is where you record your spells, recipes, rituals, research, and more.
  2. It is imbued with the magic, intention, and willpower of the creator.
  3. It can include wisdom from other witches, dream interpretations, online resources, and journals about daily life.
  4. It documents spells, recipes, research, and rituals as a reference guide.
  5. There is no wrong way to make a book of shadows.
  6. Cleanse your book of shadows.
  7. You can write in your book daily but it is not necessary and you should not feel any pressure to do so.
  8. Your book does not have to be fancy. It’s entirely up to you as to what you want it to look and feel like.
  9. You can decorate your book. You can use charms, pictures, draw symbols/sigils/signs. Customize it to how you want.
  10. You can write whatever you please in your book, it doesn’t have to go by a strict guideline, but it does need to contain your workings so that it’s not just a journal. It’s important to notate your workings so that you can look back and see progress.
  11. You don’t need to keep a book of shadows.

Here are some page ideas for your Book of Shadows. You don't have to go by this, you can make it whatever you want. It's your book!

Types of Witchcraft

So you've taken your first step into being a witch, but what kind of witch are you? Do you only want to focus on one specific type of craft, or are you more like me, an eclectic? You don't have to limit yourself! That's the great thing about witchcraft is that you can be and do whatever you want. Here are a few types of witchcraft below, but there are many more that you can explore and try out. You don't have to label yourself!

  1. Sea and Water Witchcraft: has strong ties to water and the ocean and uses that element in their practice. Sea and ocean magic will often use sand, shells, driftwood, or other elements that come from the sea and ocean. Water magic will often use rocks, stones, and whatever else they can find in lakes, rivers, streams, etc. They feel connected to the water and ancient folklore involving sirens and other water-related mythical beings. Works with oceans, lakes, seas, weather magic, lunar magic.
  2. Cosmic (or Star) Witchcraft: contemporary witches who look to the cosmos, astrology, and astronomy and work those elements and celestial energy into their practice. Often follow the planets and the alignment of the stars and base their spells and rituals on the different placements. Work with astrology, the zodiac, horoscopes, and celestial energy.
  3. Lunar Witchcraft: uses the moon and its phases in their practice.
  4. Ceremonial Witchcraft: have many practices, but ceremonies and rituals are practices that they hold in especially high regard. It is worked into most of the elements of their practice. They work a ritual or ceremony into whatever they’re casting or trying to accomplish. Often call on specific beings and spiritual entities to assist them with whatever they’re casting.
  5. Crystal Witchcraft: works with crystals and stones.
  6. Divination Witchcraft: works with different types of divination like tarot cards, palmistry, tasseography, and I Ching.
  7. Eclectic Witchcraft: does not have one set religion, practice, tradition, or culture that they pull from. Their practice derives from many sources and becomes the witch’s own. They may worship a higher being, or their practice may be primarily secular, or might be its own kind of spiritual. They make their own rules.
  8. Elemental Witchcraft: study, honor, and practice based on the four elements, earth, air, wind, and fire. They may have an altar for each specific element. They call on the elements when casting spells and performing rituals and may even have an element that they personally identify with and work towards finding.
  9. Green (or Garden/Forest) Witchcraft: highly connected to the earth and the energy it possesses. Most likely have their own garden where they grow herbs, but also study their area and practice with local plants and environment. Use plants/greenery in their spells, magic, and cooking. Very natural and love to be in nature and near anything green. They want to be close to Mother Earth and the spirit that she encompasses. Works with herbalism, botany, folk magic, and essential oils.
  10. Hedge Witchcraft: practice what is known as “hedge jumping" which is venturing out of this world into the Otherworld. They can communicate with the spiritual world and send messages between both worlds. They practice astral projection as well as work with herbs and earth-based magic. It is their ability to cross the boundary between this world and the spirit world that makes them a “hedge” witch. The “flying on a broomstick legend” was a misunderstanding based on hedge witches “flying” into the spiritual realm.
  11. Hereditary Witchcraft: is a witch that was born into witchcraft. It is a part of their family and/or lineage, though they may work with their own individual practices as well or instead of their families. To be an hereditary witch you must be born into it, but if you stop practicing, you are no longer an hereditary witch.
  12. Kitchen (or Hearth/Home) Witchcraft: creates most of their magic in their kitchen or home. They are incredibly nurturing, love to make their home a truly sacred and special place. Love to cook and brew and use herbs. They combine their own personal and individual magical energy with essential oils, herbs, food, and everyday objects to create their spells, rituals, and magic. Works with cooking, home routines, homemade offerings, cleansing, and protection spells.
  13. Secular Witchcraft: they still cast spells, use crystals, herbs, oils, and candles, but they don’t attach spirituality to their practice. They don’t worship a deity or higher being. They are non-religious.They don’t believe in the power behind energy or that there is energy in their work. That doesn’t mean that they can’t be spiritual, just that they do not use it in their work.
  14. Solitary Witchcraft: can be any type of witch, but they choose to practice alone rather than with a coven. Could be by choice or just that they haven’t found one yet. There are legends that solitary witches are reincarnations of witches who have been practicing for generations and at puberty their knowledge is awakened. Since they already remember and understand the craft, their need for a coven is less than a newer witch.
  15. Traditional Witchcraft: have a base in the history of witchcraft and the Old Craft that came before Wicca. They take a historical (traditional) approach to their practice and often will study their ancestors or other folklore attached to witchcraft. They want to honor the old ways and work with local history and spirits of where they are or where they come from.

Intro to Witchcraft

What is Witchcraft:

So what are witches and just what exactly is witchcraft? Are they the scary things you see in the movies, or are they just innocent people trying to find an alternative way of life? Religion would have you believe that they are evil beings that work for the devil. That's what I thought for many decades, but then my eyes were opened.

Witches are just people. Witchcraft is not a religion, it is a practice of magic, also known as energy. Simply put, witches are those that work with that energy. They put their energy out into the universe to achieve a certain desire. They manipulate that energy and make the outcome of it align with their desire.

They are careful in how they use their energy. Some use that magic for good, some for other nefarious means. I prefer to use my magic, my energy, for positive things. I'm not Wiccan (Wicca is a religion) but I do agree with some of their tenets. I do believe that we get back the energy that we put out into the universe. I guess you could call me a love and light witch. I don't do hexes or curses. I don't do spells that negatively affect other people. I just work on myself.

"Witchcraft is seeing the love in nature that is around. It is enjoying the sunrise and sunset. It is seeing the dew on the flowers in the morning and the bright colors of the seasons, the gentle movement of your hair as the wind blows it, and the warmth of the sun on your skin. It's the tweet of birds and the hello of all wild creatures. It's living with Mother Earth and being humbled by her power. When we all work with the divine, the arrogant technology is not affecting us. Witchcraft is about being aware of your surroundings, developing a strong mind through meditation, and understanding respect for all living things that involve your environment. There is no better place to get peace than by yourself in a natural setting." - from Witchcraft for Beginners (free on Amazon Kindle).

So are you interested in witchcraft or things of the occult? Have you always felt an interest or been drawn to mythology? Let's talk about signs that you just might be a witch.

Are animals drawn to you? Do you see the same animals over and over and don't understand why? This could be in real life, in media, on the internet, anywhere. For example, when my mom died I moved into her home and I found dragonflies EVERYWHERE. She collected them. I found them in jewelry, broaches, key rings, and even on her bathroom wallpaper. And a few months after I moved in I went outside and there was this beautiful dragonfly just sitting on the fence. It let me get so super close to it that I was able to get some amazing photos of it with my macro lens. You could literally see the hairs on its body. I just knew at that point that she was speaking to me. She was connecting to me through that creature. This was years before I even thought of witchcraft. I ended up getting a tattoo of three dragonflies that wrap around my arm for her. Several years later I had gotten into crystals and spirituality and found out about spirit animals. I believe that the dragonfly is my totem animal, the animal handed down through generations. The one she uses to come visit me when I'm in need. My other spirit animals are squirrels, owls, and dolphins.

Are you an empath or feel drawn to healing others (physically or emotionally)? I am an empath, although I didn't know what that was until a few years ago. I had no clue why I was always so emotionally drained when I was around people. I didn't know why I felt this mix of emotions when I was around them. That even just grocery shopping would send me into a panic attack because I just couldn't handle the feelings I was feeling. Now I know more how to combat that, but it was definitely eye opening when I found out about empathic abilities. I also feel very drawn to helping others, teaching and educating on the many different topics that I love. I also believe I fall on the autistic spectrum and so that makes all of this doubly hard for me to handle, because I don't always have the appropriate response.

Do you feel drawn to collecting things like shells, crystals, feathers, or anything else from nature? I have always collected shells and rocks. When I was a child and our family would go on vacation, my mother and I would stop at the state lines and pick up a rock from the new state we were visiting. We were going to create a rock garden from them. It was more like a rock basket. Unfortunately my dad got sick and died when I was young, so we never really had the money to go on many more vacations and collect stones. But I still have them and cherish every one. We would even stop by those places in the mountains where you get a bucket of rocks to sift through to find gemstones. I still have all of those too. But afterwards anytime I'd see any gemstones in the store, I'd buy them. I started amassing a collection but never knew they had spiritual "powers". I just loved collecting them. In December of 2020 I fell and fractured a vertebrae in my back and had to have surgery in March of 2021. But in the healing process I got turned onto healing crystals. I started participating in all of the giveaways I could find on Instagram and I won a lot. Almost every crystal in my collection I won in a giveaway. It was like the universe was blessing me and let me tell you what... it helped. Tremendously! I started delving more into crystals and alternative healing and that led me to astrology, and eventually, witchcraft. And thanks to my new witchy friends I conquered my fear that religion had instilled in me for my entire life. Now I am a witch and collect many things, including feathers, tree limbs, and anything I can add to my craft.

Did you have an obsession with mermaids, fairies, trolls, or any type of fantasy creature growing up? I know I did. I loved mermaids. I remember seeing Splash with Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah when I was about ten years old. I wanted to be a mermaid SOOOOO MUCH!  I was already a nature swimmer. I felt more at home at the beach or in a swimming pool than I did on dry land. Once I got in the water, it took nighttime or the closing of the pool to get me out of it. And I always pretended I was a mermaid swimming under water. I also LOVED unicorns. I remember this one painting that my mom's friend got me when I was a child. I can still see, although I don't know what ever happened to it. I became a teenager and pictures of the New Kids on the Block took precedence of my wall space over unicorns. But I truly loved them and had so many toys. She-Ra and her winged unicorn was one of my faves.

Are you drawn to nature and the moon? I have always loved nature, however my sinuses do not. But I am most happiest at the beach or in the mountains, or in a forest surrounded by trees. I love to listen to the sounds of nature. I love hearing the birds in my neighborhood chirp at the squirrels and the squirrels screaming at the neighbor's cat that won't let it down from its tree to munch on some seeds. The cycle of life is amazing and we see this amazing miracle in front of us if we'd just step away from our phones long enough to look. And astronomy has always been something that has drawn me. I love all of the planets, especially Saturn. The Orion Constellation is my favorite. The Pleiades is something I always look forward to seeing. But the moon... the moon is powerful and amazing and I have always, ALWAYS, felt it's draw. And I've also always been very sensitive to its power, especially that of the full moon. I could always tell the days when the moon was full just because of how people acted around me. Especially drivers. The moon controls our tides, but it also has power over our emotions as well. Ask any nurse or first responder.

Do you ever notice repeating numbers or patterns? For example, have you repeatedly seen a set of numbers like 444 or 11:11? That's your guides helping your out with a lesson you need to learn. Witches and spiritual folk are more attuned to that than others. Your intuition guides you to see these numbers for a reason. So keep an eye out and next time you see one, google the number and "spiritual meaning" and find out what your guides want you to learn or pay attention to.

But chances are, if you're already reading this, then you either are one or have been thinking about it for quite some time. So if you'd like to learn more, follow my blog and comment. I love to help people, and I am always here to help you.
