A witch's Book of Shadows is their most important and essential tool. It is where you journal about every spell you work on, record your thoughts and intentions, and is the keeper of all of your magic. It is your mystical best friend. I have two. My physical copy that I use when I'm working on spells, and my digital copy that holds a lot more information. It is my intent to print it all out when I'm finally finished typing most of the important information. Here are a few things that you can do in it.
- This is your spellbook. The keeper of your magic. It is where you record your spells, recipes, rituals, research, and more.
- It is imbued with the magic, intention, and willpower of the creator.
- It can include wisdom from other witches, dream interpretations, online resources, and journals about daily life.
- It documents spells, recipes, research, and rituals as a reference guide.
- There is no wrong way to make a book of shadows.
- Cleanse your book of shadows.
- You can write in your book daily but it is not necessary and you should not feel any pressure to do so.
- Your book does not have to be fancy. It’s entirely up to you as to what you want it to look and feel like.
- You can decorate your book. You can use charms, pictures, draw symbols/sigils/signs. Customize it to how you want.
- You can write whatever you please in your book, it doesn’t have to go by a strict guideline, but it does need to contain your workings so that it’s not just a journal. It’s important to notate your workings so that you can look back and see progress.
- You don’t need to keep a book of shadows.
